Hole in 1

Congratulations to John Doyle on his recent hole in 1 at Mottram Hall

Whilst John isn't a member of the society he has been on the 2 Southport birthday bash's, which makes it worthy news

New Honorary Captain of the Golf Club at De Vere Mottram Hall, Sir Alex Ferguson was on hand to award member John Doyle with his hole-in-one award after making a memorable ace on the 3rd hole of the Championship layout.

John Doyle is congratulated by Sir Alex Ferguson after his hole in one.

This rare feat is special for any golfer, but it was made even more memorable for Doyle as the Manchester United legend was in the Claret Jug clubhouse restaurant to congratulate him after his round. Ferguson has been an active member at De vere Mottram Hall for a number of years, regularly playing on the course which is set to host the ISPS Handa PGA Seniors Championship next week. After hearing the news he was delighted to present John with his commemorative framed scorecard and bottle of champagne to mark the occasion.

Doyle was clearly thrilled about how his day unfolded; “That was an incredible feeling when I saw the ball drop into the hole. It was the perfect start to the round and I was still smiling as I walked off the 18th green! I have to say that to have Sir Alex Ferguson come outside and present me with my prizes was an amazing experience, something I will never forget. I know he will be a great ambassador for Mottram Hall and it is always fantastic to see him here. I’d like to say thank you to everyone at the club for making it happen.”
